Who

Welcome. My name is Linda Bannister. Friends and family know me as caring, curious, and encouraging. I consider it a privilege to help others find clarity and calm as they hit barriers of negative thoughts and beliefs and overwhelming emotions such as anxiety, sadness, and helplessness. I offer mental health counseling to people across the lifespan of development (youth—age 16 and up—and adults). Each stage of life brings unique transitions that make us optimistic or throw us off balance and leave us feeling confused. How we cope with these transitions greatly affects how we grow as individuals. I offer support to those who wish to understand themselves more, improve their relationships, and be their best selves.

I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Indiana (LMHC-IN 39003545A), and a board-certified art therapist (ATR-BC #17-493). I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University, and a master’s degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. I have experience as a therapist in a variety of settings, including community health, school, and home-based, and with private practice groups. My first career was in graphic design and communications, working in corporate and nonprofit settings, engaging in collaboration and creativity. One of the greatest discoveries of my life to see how creativity, brain science, and wellness practices merge naturally and carry great hope for healing from emotional pain.

I specialize in stress, trauma, grief and loss, attachment difficulties, anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges (i.e., ADHD). I am open to spiritual questions.

In my personal life, I enjoy art making with a variety of media; watercolors and textile arts are favorites.  I love being outside, walking in the woods, puttering in the garden, reading, and listening to music of many genres.  I share home with my husband of 40+ years, and we enjoy spending time with our adult children, two rowdy Lab pups, and two cats.
